Jaimi E. Goodfriend, CFA is a founder of Trading Sciences and the venture’s anchor in the financial community. She is responsible for implementing the Trading Sciences technologies in the venture’s own trading systems as well as making critical contributions to the expert systems code in the company’s software IP. Jaimi brings over 12 years of active trading, security analysis and portfolio analytic expertise to Trading Sciences.

Jaimi holds an economics degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the J. L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She acquired years of detailed financial modeling experience in Mergers & Acquisitions at Montgomery Securities in San Francisco and significantly increased the infrastructure services group’s fundamental sellside research coverage while working at First Analysis in Chicago. Her work was published in The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, The New York Times, Bloomberg News and her interviews have appeared on CNN and PBS.

Jaimi served as a Senior Equity Analyst at Balyasny Asset Management and pioneered the introduction of the global basic materials sector to the firm. In addition to driving substantial investment returns, Jaimi embarked upon her extensive international experience. She built out the firm’s first emerging market effort by opening proprietary research channels and creating detailed financial forecasts for the global commodities sectors.

In 2005, Jaimi joined Citadel Investment Group in Chicago. In her first position at Citadel, she had multiple responsibilities as a Senior Equity Analyst rebuilding the Industrials equity division within Citadel’s Global Equities Group. Her responsibilities included extensive domestic and international investment research, cooperatively developing the infrastructure for the division’s entire investment process and generating handsome equity returns within the Industrial group’s multi-billion dollar fund. Jaimi subsequently joined Citadel’s Quantitative Alpha Generation Group, where she researched alternative, fundamentally-based investment strategies.

Jaimi then served as the Manager of Absolute Return and Fixed Income at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, one of the largest foundation fund of funds in the U.S. At the foundation, Jaimi researched and evaluated the principal methodologies of successful hedge fund managers and strategies. She worked within an advanced portable alpha framework to help formulate strategic capital allocations across the foundation’s absolute return investments.

To stay current with the advances in financial industry trends and to share her experience with graduate finance students, Jaimi also serves as an adjunct professor teaching hedge fund management at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and at DePaul University in Chicago.

Jaimi brings this breadth of experience to Trading Sciences where she collaborates with Chief Technologist Ron Brown in developing new and innovative solutions for trading, risk management, portfolio management, and security selection. She and Ron have also worked extensively on the company’s predictive trading systems, an ongoing R&D effort within Trading Sciences.
